Rep. Rashida Tlaib is charged with potentially breaking the rules of the Federal Election Commission after campaign financing papers have revealed she has paid a large wage with campaign funds after winning her general election last November.
Campaign documents show that Tlaib paid for herself last May after winning her primary election, from her campaign committee, Rashida Tlaib for Congress. From 7 May till 6 November, Tlaib paid herself $4,000 a month for general elections, with the exception of two checks, each paying $3,000 in August. Tlaib paid $28,000 for herself during the election.
However, documents show that Tlaib paid twice after the election. The first $2,000 payment was made on 16 November, which was consistent with previous months ‘ payments. On December 1 the second payment was for $15,500, more than three times the size of the next payment.
