Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill yesterday which brings Texas in line with 20 other states.
It classifies Texas as a constitutional carry state, which is a big step in the right direction for gun rights.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed HB 1927 into law Wednesday, making Texas the 21st constitutional carry state in the union.
The Texas Tribune reported the constitutional carry law will go into effect September 1, 2021, allowing law-abiding residents 21-years-old and older to carry a handgun for self-defense, without first getting a permit from the government.Breitbart News
In a nation where guns can be found everywhere, it’s obvious that residents should have the right to defend themselves by using one.
So it’s good that one of our nation’s biggest states by land mass and population has now put this into effect.
Of course, Democrats were upset.
U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-El Paso) spoke out against constitutional carry after Abbott signed the bill:
The permitless carry bill will cause more violence and loss. Despite overwhelming support for common-sense gun violence prevention legislation like universal background checks, Texas Republicans, led by a cowardly governor, are more interested in groveling for the gun lobby’s attention than they are in preventing gun violence and honoring victims and survivors in El Paso and across Texas.Breitbart News
The quickest way to prevent gun violence is for another person with a gun to take brave action.
So by making it possible to carry a handgun for self-defense, people will be less motivated to commit crimes and any crimes in progress can be brought to an end swiftly.
On many occasions, the threat of being shot is all that’s needed, rather than any actual shooting.
Plus if you prevent law-abiding residents from having a gun to defend themselves, people who don’t abide by the law will still use guns anyway.
It looks like Democrats just don’t think things through!
Thankfully, Texas is the 21st state to make this common-sense approach the law, not the 1st.
The other 20 states are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.Breitbart News
Now we just need the rest of the states to pass a bill like this.
Let’s hope they do.
