I’m not going to pretend that I think that telling the truth comes naturally from the lips of Joe Biden. It doesn’t. Too many half-truths and complete falsehoods have come out of his mouth during his political career, and, especially, during the 2020 Presidential campaign and his administration, that it’s hard for me to take anything that he says as having any measure of credibility, truth, or accuracy. I mean, c’mon, man!
But, as they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and Biden actually said something yesterday that floored me. It floored me not because it was new information (I’ve been saying it for years), but because Biden actually told the truth about this issue. And because it’s likely to really anger a lot of the loony leftist political base that pushed him into office. Lorenz Duchamps writes,
The authoritarian and communist regime of Cuba is a “failed state” and universally, communism is a “failed system,” President Joe Biden said while speaking from the White House on Thursday.
“Communism is a failed system—a universally failed system. And I don’t see socialism as a very useful substitute, but that’s another story,” Biden said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Biden’s remarks were the strongest signal yet by the president in support of Cubans demonstrating against the ruling regime of leader Miguel Diaz-Canel—also the head of the Cuban Communist Party.
He also addressed that his administration is “considering” ways to possibly reinstate access to the internet for people on the island nation after the regime disrupted citizens from their online communications in the wake of the biggest anti-government protests in decades.
Good for Joe. It’s amazing to me that he was able to get those statements past those writing the answers to his questions. I’m still surprised that he said this, and I have my doubts that I’ll agree with anything else that he says during his entire administration, but I’m adult enough to be able agree with my opponents on the rare occasion that they’re right. Let’s just hope that this is the beginning of a trend from Biden.
