A boy’s lonely 8th birthday is one he’d probably rather forget — but his mom decided to immortalize it on the internet.
A mom threw a party at Chuck E. Cheese for her son’s 8th birthday and invited 30 kids, but only two showed up.
The mom, who goes by @lifewithbabyaxelito2 on TikTok, shared the video from her son’s party writing, “Imagine turning 8 and inviting the whole class only for them not to show up.”
In the video, the little boy is seen sitting at a table looking around. His mom wrote: “Anxious for his little friends to show up.”
She explained that the party was from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and at 4:45 no one showed up. Later in the video, she said it was past 5 p.m. and still no one was there.
The boy rested his head on the table and apparently told his mom, “I’m going to nap so time can go faster and my friends show up.”
The mom and dad went ahead and ordered food for their three kids because they were hungry. She also showed that she bought a lot of tickets for arcade games, but had no one to give them to.
Only two out of the 30 kids invited ended up coming to the party, as well as the boy’s grandma.
She ended the video by showing her husband going up to other kids at Chuck E. Cheese and offering them the candy bags that were supposed to be for party guests.
People in the comments felt for the poor boy.
“That’s why I don’t invite my kids’ classmates they’re not friends just classmates,” one wrote.
“In 3rd grade I was the only one who showed up to a friend’s party. 18 years later I ran into him at a store and he told me he’ll never forget that,” someone shared.
“This is why I take my sons to every birthday party they get invited to,” another commented.
“My son watched this with me and said ‘mommy can we go? I feel so bad about this’ we would’ve shown up,” one person said.
“This breaks my heart. Kids are so cruel. I’m so sorry,” another empathized.
Another added: “This is why school birthdays will not be a thing for us,” to which the mom replied, “It won’t be for us anymore.”
