This gal’s middle school sweetheart finally got down on one knee and put a ring on it.

The plot twist is, however, that he put it on her best friend’s finger.

“When your ring doesn’t fit but your bestie comes in clutch,” reads the text of TikToker Sadie Elizabeth’s now-viral engagement video.

In the wacky proposal post, which raked in more than 14.1 million views, Sadie, 21, lovingly posed alongside her fiancé, Zach, for professional engagement pictures.

Next to the soon-to-be newlyweds stood Sadie’s unnamed bestie of 10 years, who was wearing the new fiancée’s ring and positioning her hand to make it seem as if it’s Sadie’s hand in the photos.

The trending behind-the-scenes clip then transitioned to reveal the snapshots, featuring what looked like Sadie showing off her ring on her hand while she and Zach embraced.

And while the pictures perfectly captured the precious moment between the lovers — and Sadie’s handy pal — TikTok watchers were ticked off by the “say yes” sleight of hand.

“It is bad luck to try on or wear someone elses engagement or wedding band,” warned a superstitious commentator.

“Plot twist the ring was for the bestie originally,” wrote another mean-spirited social media troll.

“He actually planned to propose to the best friend but she said ‘No,’ but because he didn’t want to waste the ring he proposed to her…,” posited another.

But in a subsequent video, Sadie explained that her friend had introduced her to Zach when they were in the eighth grade.

And in response to the warnings about “bad luck” Sadie said: “I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God, the one who made our paths cross, the one who made us for each other.”

She also confirmed that Zach does, in fact, know her ring size, and that a shipping “miscommunication” resulted in his popping the big question with the ill-fitting token of affection.

When asked if she was able to get the ring resized, Sadie said, “Yes, we did.

“We went the next day and they had it ready for me within hours,” she added.

Sadie says she's grateful for how special her fiancé and bestie made the proposal.

And despite the cloud of shade from negative commenters attempting to rain on her parade, Sadie, her fiancé and best friend have received a ton of praise for making the best out of a tough situation.

“This is seriously the sweetest most loving thing I’ve seen in a while. Congratulations y’all,” said a kindhearted supporter of the trio.

“I love how she continues to smile while her hand is the one being shot for the photo. congratulations,” penned another.

And Sadie is nothing but grateful the moment was made into a special memory.

“I cry every 10 minutes thinking about how sweet he made this day for us,” she said. “The day we waited for all along.”
