It was an indecent proposal.
A clip of a bridesmaid getting proposed to while at her sister’s wedding has sparked an online debate about whether or not the now-engaged sibling was stealing the spotlight.
“Sister of the bride had no idea this was happening,” reads the video’s caption.
In the TikTok — which was posted Friday and has since racked up 21 million views — the bride is seen preparing to toss her bouquet into the crowd of bridesmaids when she spins around and walks toward her sister, still carrying the flowers in her raised hand.
The stunned sibling’s confusion increases when she spots her boyfriend emerging from the crowd, heading in her direction and bearing a ring.
Her boyfriend then drops to one knee and the guests around the duo erupt into cheers. Taken aback, the woman briefly hides her face in her hand before quickly nodding, “Yes,” and her bride sister gives the now-engaged couple a hug.
Some TikTok users did not hold their peace in the comments.
“NO! You just don’t do that at a wedding,” slammed one user.
“Oh, nah! Brides approval or not,” jeered one user. “The proposing man should have some respect and fortitude to do this on his own!”
“I mean very cute but I’m not sharing my day,” slammed a third person.
Other people thought it was a touching moment between the sisters.
“Now THAT is a wedding proposal,” gushed a user.
“I love that you shared your spotlight with your sis,” another person said.
“To all y’all saying ‘not my wedding’ well clearly it isn’t. D–n keep them negative vibes to yourself smh,” chimed in a third person.
